My girlfriend has recently been diagnosed with vaginismus and it came as no real surprise but the doctor told her that it was probably caused by myself and her growing apart. We have been together for two and a half years since we were 17 and have never been able to have a normal sexual relationship. We were both each others first sexual partners and when we first tried it hurt her a lot and did not seem to get better. She went to the doctors at first and was diagnosed with thrush which explained the pain, but since then, for the past two years sex has caused her pain. In reading your site i believe that the current problem of vaginismus was probably caused by fear of the initial pain but throughout my research I have not come across any cases of it occuring because people are sexually incompatible. My girlfriend and I love each other but it has been becoming increasingly tense and difficult over the past year as we have not been able to have a full relationship. Any advice and comments would be greatly appreciated and information on incompatibility if it does occur would be useful.
