I am a 24 year old woman with BPD (Borderline Personality disorder). I never went to a psychiatrist but my doctor gave me 100 mg Zoloft (SSRI) to treat my depression. I also feel sometimes "out of my body". Does this pharmacotherapy also reduce bulimia and panic attacks?
This is a brief description of some very typical symptoms of a Borderline Personality Disorder. These different aspects of depressive symptoms, anxiety, eating disorders and depersonalisation/derealisation can be positively influenced by a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI).
The neurotransmitter Serotonin plays an important role in the regulation of impulse control and affective regulations of the brain. Many borderline patients describe positive effects taking SSRI. Sometime high doses of this medicine and /or a combination with other substances can be helpful. However, pharmacotherapy should be combined with professional psychotherapeutic help.
You should a psychiatrist to get individual advice and treatment.
